Denver Broncos Player Gives Grades in 26-7 Win Over Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Denver Broncos suffered a setback against the team on the road Tampa Bay BuccaneersThey came out with a 26-7 victory. Everything was on point for Denver on offense and the defense continued its strong play from the start of the season.

The Broncos have shown what they can do when things are going well, and this could be the spark they need to turn their season around. However, this is a young team and the consistency of playing at this level is yet to be determined.

The Broncos played well collectively, so we can look at how they looked on an individual level with player grades. The overall game was the culmination of nearly everyone performing well individually. Everything was firing on all cylinders.

Let’s take a look at the player grades for Week 3. Remember, a player must have at least 20 snaps to qualify for a grade.

The rookie quarterback had his best performance of the season. Arguably the best rookie quarterback performance of 2024 so far. His footwork was better, still issues, but his decision making and reads were what many expected when he was drafted.

It was nice to see Sean Payton utilize Nix’s athleticism and running ability more against the Buccaneers than against the Broncos in the first two weeks.

While Williams did a good job as a blocker and a receiver, his running ability remained an issue. He had five rushes for 12 yards and a fumble on the day.

Williams’ vision issues continue to be critical for offensive linemen, especially when facing large opponents.

No other runner got enough time to qualify for the grade.

The Broncos’ receivers played well despite having trouble getting separation. All three of those receivers had a positive EPA, with Reynolds being the only one to have a positive before this game.

Sutton and Humphrey performed well as receivers but also excelled as blockers.

There was a serious blocking problem at tight ends in the first two weeks, even with Greg Dulcich out of the equation. Trautman struggled but played well, blocking 28 of 46 plays.

Adkins finally had a game where his blocking performance justified keeping him in the game.

Bolles has been a problem the first two weeks, and he was coming off a performance where he allowed Alex Highsmith to control the game. Bolles allowed two pressures against the Buccaneers but no sacks and had his best game as a run blocker in several seasons.

There were also concerns about Palczewski. Palczewski performed well, but the Broncos gave him a lot of help on offense and at tight end.

Meinerz struggled in the first two weeks, but was dominant as a run blocker and held his own in pass protection in Tampa. Powers also had a strong game, held his own in pass protection and did a good job as a run blocker.

Wattenberg had some issues but was above average overall, and not having to face Bucs offensive lineman Vita Vea made his life easier.

The Broncos’ defensive line controlled the offensive line. Not everything was perfect and had its hiccups against the run, but Allen lived in the backfield as a pass rusher and both Jones and Roach plugged the gaps up the middle.

Franklin-Myers had a good game, but he was the one who caused more trouble against defensive linemen.

What a show TillmanHe created chaos in the backfield as a pass rusher, but he had some missteps as a run defender.

Cooper is solid and reliable, and the Broncos should consider signing him to an extension sooner rather than later. Bonitto and Elliss have shown issues against the run, but the former has had some excellent pass rushing moments.

Elliss has shown he has more development to come, but he also faces a tough matchup with Bucs right tackle Tristan Wirfs.

The Broncos needed Barton to play like this because the linebacker position had been a concern for the first two weeks. He provided some stability at the position.

Singleton remains a solid defender who struggles in certain coverages, and he also has two missed tackles, tying him for the most missed tackles of any defensive player in the NFL.

The performance of these corners should be applauded. They faced the toughest receiving trio so far this season and basically silenced them.

McMillian was targeted 10 times and allowed eight catches, mostly on downs, for 57 yards. He also did well against the run, but missed four tackles.

Moss allowed four catches for 22 yards, broke up a pass and forced the game-ending fumble. As for Surtain, he was worth every penny on his contract, allowing just one catch for eight yards and knocking Mike Evans out of the game.

Jones came up big with a perfect game, picking up an interception and a game-ending fumble, and he also came up well against the run and handled coverage.

Locke played well defensively but had a number of missed tackles against the run, including two missed tackles.
