Uncle of Cape Cod crash victim dies from injuries sustained in incident

81-year-old man faces additional charges after second death boat trailer accident Authorities said the incident happened last month on Cape Cod.

The driver of the vehicle that hit the boat trailer on Aug. 30 has been identified as Peter Richmond of Yarmouth Harbour and is now charged with a second count of negligent motor vehicle manslaughter. According to a statement from the Yarmouth Police Department:The crash happened on North Main Street in Yarmouth, south of the Great Western Road junction.

Police initially said 14-year-old John Hughan of Norwell died in the crash, while two other people were taken to Cape Cod Hospital.

“While his life ended at a very young age, he will be remembered for how hard he worked in everything he did, the love and kindness that radiated from him, and his compassion for his friends and family.” Hughan’s obituary reads:.

Cornelius Allen Bottomley, 54, of Hanover, died on Sept. 13 from injuries sustained in the crash that also killed his nephew, Hughan, police said in an updated statement.

Police said the pair were working on a boat trailer that was disabled after Richmond’s vehicle rear-ended it and broke its axle.

“The Yarmouth Police Department offers its deepest sympathies and condolences to the families affected by this tragic incident,” the statement said.
