Coroner releases identity of woman who died in Rock Island Co. crash

ROCK ISLAND Co., Ill. (KWQC) – The Rock Island County coroner has identified the person killed in a crash in Illinois City. Three other people were injured.

Cheryl A. Baldwin, 79, of New Boston, Ill., was identified as the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The preliminary cause of death was multiple traumatic injuries, according to Rock Island County Coroner Brian Gustafson.

Deputies said they responded to a two-vehicle crash in the 15300 block of 322nd Street West on Sept. 21 at 12:15 p.m.

A passenger in one of the vehicles was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the same vehicle was taken to UnityPoint Health-Trinity Rock Island for treatment, deputies said.

The two people in the other vehicle were taken to UnityPoint Health-Trinity Muscatine.

The Rock Island County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Muscatine Police Department, the Illinois City Fire Department and the Rock Island County Coroner’s Office.
