Hi-Surf Sets Sail with Strong Premiere Audience for Fox

Rescue: Hi Surf made a strong start for Fox.

The lifeguard drama drew 4.7 million viewers Sunday night, according to Nielsen’s live and same-day data.

The premiere episode also managed to score a 1.1 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic, which is pretty impressive since scripted series rarely perform this well in same-day ratings anymore.

In fact, it has been the highest-rated fall drama on television for six years, ever since the series first aired on CBS. God Became My Friend in September 2018. That also marked the first time a new fall drama and comedy from the same network debuted as the No. 1 show of the week. Universal Basic Men.

The solid performance was due in part to an NFL doubleheader. The episode was the first part of a special two-night gala that continued Monday night.

Co-produced by Warner Bros. Television and Fox Entertainment Studios, Save HI-Surf is an action-packed drama about the personal and professional lives of the heavy-water lifeguards who patrol and protect the North Shore of O’ahu, the most famous and dangerous coastline in the world. Each episode will feature these adrenaline-seeking first responders saving lives in the harsh and often life-threatening conditions of Hawaii’s Seven Mile Miracle.

The series stars Robbie Magasiva, Arielle Kebbel, Adam Demos, Kekoa Kekumano, Alex Aiono, and Zoe Cipres, with recurring cast members Sea Shimooka, Shawn Hatosy, and Ian Anthony Dale.

Kester, Wells and Daniele Nathanson are executive producers and co-executive producers, with JWP’s Erin Jontow also serving as executive producer.
