Here are eight new emojis coming to smartphones

Finally, a emoji The one that will represent us all is coming soon: a tired face with bags under the eyes.

It’s one of eight new emojis set to appear on smartphones and computers next year, including a root vegetable, a harp, a deciduous tree, a fingerprint, a shovel, a purple blob and the flag of a distant island. English Channel called Sark.

Emojipedia, a popular emoji reference site, published sample images a few months ago. Recently, the Unicode Consortium, a nonprofit that oversees global emoji standards and new versions, approved the new emoji set.

Smartphone users can start using the new emojis “across a variety of digital devices over the next few months and throughout 2025.” Emojipedia said.

Tired emoji face honors of winning The “most anticipated” emoji received over 60% of the votes at the World Emoji Awards, with the splash and paddle coming in second and third respectively.

This may seem a bit silly, but the deciduous tree aims to raise awareness about drought and climate change, according to Brian Baihaki’s proposal submitted to the Unicode Consortium.

“Drought is a natural part of the climate cycle, trees have adapted to these harsh conditions for millions of years,” Baihaki wrote“But the climate is changing, droughts are becoming more frequent, more severe, and even spreading to other places in a short time.”

Different operating systems and companies, like Apple’s iOS and Alphabet’s Android, put their own spin on emoji designs.

Comments may cause controversy, Like when Google somehow misplaced the foam on top of a half-full glass of beer and mixed up the ingredients in the hamburger emoji (with cheese underneath). Both have been fixed.
