Pima Community College student found shot on U of A campus

UAPD has released more information about the shooting that occurred at midnight on the volleyball court at Sonora Residence Hall in Arizona.

Police officers arrived at the scene around 11 p.m. Sunday night and found a college-aged man lying next to a car. Officers said the suspect shot the man after a fight involving several people. Witnesses took the victim to a car to take him to the hospital but waited in the parking lot for first responders. When officers and medical personnel arrived, they attempted to perform life-saving measures, but the victim ultimately died.

The suspect has not been located. He is described as a 6-foot-1 man, between the ages of 19 and 25. He is described as dark-skinned and Middle Eastern or Hispanic. He has collar-length curly hair and a beard. He is wearing a white short-sleeved T-shirt and tan shorts.

UAPD will be conducting additional patrols today to search for the shooter.

University of Arizona police say a Pima Community College student was shot outside Arizona Sonora Hall late Sunday night. Officers found him near the volleyball courts, right next to the dorms.

Police said the gunman was a large-built man with curly hair and was last seen wearing a white shirt and gray shorts and was holding a gun.

Shortly after the attack, the University sent out a warning to students to avoid the area. The area is now clear, but the suspect remains at large.
