Three people died in roadside crash while repairing trailer

KUANTAN: Three people were killed when they were hit by a four-wheel drive vehicle while repairing a broken-down trailer on the roadside along KM57, Central Spine Road (Kampung Gua Tagang) in Merapoh, Kuala Lipis, on Monday (September 23).

Kuala Lipis regional police chief Police Chief Ismail Man said those killed in the incident, which occurred at 2.35am, were the driver of the broken-down truck, 31-year-old Mohd Izani Mohd Yusoff, the driver of the other truck that stopped to help, 27-year-old Mohd Aizad Rosdi, and Mohd Aizad’s assistant, 22-year-old Rushaidee Rusli.

“Another trailer from the same company stopped in front of the broken-down vehicle to offer assistance. While repairs were being made, a pickup truck suddenly veered out of control and hit the rear left corner of the broken-down trailer, striking the victims,” he said in a statement.

Ismail said the driver of the four-wheel drive vehicle, Mohd Khairul Azhar Mohd Nor, and the attendant of the broken-down trailer, Wan Muhammad Syafiq Wan Hanafi, were seriously injured and taken to Gua Musang Hospital in Kelantan.
