Alcaraz on How His Rivalry with Sinner Compares to the Big Three

While Carlos Alcaraz refuses to be compared to any member of the Big Three, he likes to hear that his rivalry with Jannik Sinner can be likened to those great rivalries.

Alcaraz has never wavered in his ambitions in tennis. Since entering the sport, he has declared that his goal is to become one of the best players in history.

As bold as it sounds, he quickly backed up his claim with impressive performances, including winning the US Open at a young age and becoming the youngest man to be ranked world number one on the ATP Tour.

With such achievements, the Spaniard certainly has the chance to become a legendary player, but much of that will depend on the coming years and how he performs and how he handles some of the competition that arises.

One of the most notable is his rivalry with Sinner. It’s never been clearer that these two will take the sport forward. Sinner and Alcaraz have won every Grand Slam this year, each with two major titles.

Both players relish the rivalry, which has even been likened to the rivalry shared by Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. While it may seem like a premature and bold comparison, Alcaraz does not shy away from it.

He may not be so open to comparisons being made between himself and the Big Three, but as he explained at the 2024 Laver Cup, he likes to hear it. Victory in Team Europe.

“A lot of people are talking about it. I like hearing it, I’m not going to lie. I hope so. I hope our rivalry is close to what the Big 3 have had their entire careers. I don’t know. This is the first year we’ve shared all the Grand Slams.”

“I hope we continue like this, share great moments, fight for big tournaments, Grand Slams, Masters 1000, Masters. Let’s see how it goes in the next few years.”

Both of them have a chance to achieve a lot in the future. They are not only talented, but they have also proven that they can achieve the greatest success in tennis.

They also have a solid relationship off the court, built on the mutual respect that is the foundation of every great rivalry. It’s a fairytale scenario for tennis as we approach the final farewell to Novak Djokovic, the last remaining member of the Big Three.

“If we stay like this at this level, I think we will have a great rivalry and relationship off the field as well. I hope to keep him on tour for a long time because he pushes me to be a better player every day.”

“It just pushes me to go 100% to beat him in the next matches. So it’s great, hopefully we can have that great rivalry that the Big 3 has had in their careers.”
